The pole will need to longer than the width of the window to allow room on each side for 'stackback' - this is where the curtains will sit when open. Generally you need to add at least 15cm each side, more if the curtains are thick.
Measure the width of the window, including the architrave or frame. Then add 15cm-30cm to each side to allow for stackback.
Remember to allow room for the finials each side!
Poles come with 10 rings per metre of pole, so a 200cm pole will have 20 rings, or a 150cm pole with come with 16 rings (an even number). This will generally be fine for triple or pinch pleat curtains. If your curtains have a pencil pleat heading, you may need to order extra rings - allow 4 rings per 30cm of pole.
If you have eyelet curtains, you will need to buy a pole of a diameter suitable for your eyelets.

The curtains look fabulous, thank you so much! Hooray, my lounge is no longer a goldfish bowl!
Thank you so much, I am so pleased. I have received my order less than 24hours after I made it!!! The curtains will be up in my daughter's bedroom before she returns on Friday.
I ordered some rods and tape yesterday to make some Roman blinds and could not believe it when they arrived this morning! Thank you so much for such amazing service, I will definitely be using your website again.
I'd like to say a big thank you to your lady sales/service assistant to whom I spoke to yesterday morning. I'm attempting my first roman blind and had lots of questions that were met in a very polite and helpful manner. Not trying to get me off the phone as quick as possible. It's so refreshing to find such a friendly and helpful person on the other end of the phone.
